I am Vega Josefine Drake Carlsson, working across scenography, costume, design, voice, and space.
Born in Stockholm, based in Oslo.
My practice moves between theatre, puppetry, visual art, and design. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture and Furniture Design and a Master’s degree in Theatre, specialising in Scenography, from the Oslo National Academy
of the Arts. I am currently establishing my practice in Norway and across Scandinavia.
I work with material as language – as memory, resistance, archive, playfulness
and body. I’m interested in what materials have been, what they carry, and what they become when placed in space and time. Meaning emerges through friction: between surface and structure, sound and silence, presence and absence.
My scenographic work is driven by visual dramaturgy and sensory experience.
I navigate the tension between minimalism and maximalism, allowing restraint and excess to coexist.
I approach sustainability not as a limitation, but as a method – to reuse, reframe, and listen to what already exists.
In 2024, I was awarded a Newly Established Artist Grant from the Norwegian government.
I create spaces that hold narratives rather than illustrate them – spaces that invite attention, resonance, and transformation.
Let’s work together.
